In February 2024, Foundation CURE launched the project “Safe Space for Youth,” supported by the Regional Program on Local Democracy in the Western Balkans 2 (ReLOaD2).
The project’s goal is to empower high school students in the municipality of Novo Sarajevo by encouraging their active participation and creating a safe environment. Through activities such as workshops, online campaigns, and film screenings, young people will gain fundamental knowledge about peer violence, cyberbullying, and other forms of violence and discrimination.
In the first two months of the project’s implementation, key meetings were held with representatives from UNDP, the Municipality of Novo Sarajevo, and local schools. Workshops began in April, and surveys completed by students confirmed an alarming state of violence among youth.
In the upcoming period, workshops are planned at the Economics School and the School for Wood Design and Environment.
