“Misogyny, watch out!” – Ninth PitchWise festival of women’s arts and activism in BiH 2014!
From 11th to 14th of September 2014 in Sarajevo
With great pleasure we invite you to our recognizable feminist PitchWise (PW) festival of women’s art and activism in BiH, which brings together artists and activists from different generations from all over the country and the world.
The entire program of PW can be found attached to this call.
The festival emerged from a need to transform derelict and neglected areas of society at a crucial meeting point in order to bring together socially engaged artists, activists, theorists, feminists and all those interested in women’s issues in B&H and the region.
CURE Foundation has always cantered its work on the connecting and networking of feminist work and culture. This year’s PW festival will bring together artists and activists from women’s groups in B&H and neighbouring countries.
The central topic of PitchWise 2014. is:
Waves of feminism- women’s history and feminist heritage in the 21st century
First three waves of feminism are connected to this topic and the presentation of the fourth wave of feminism. One of the key features of this year’s festival is focus on women’s participation in positive social changes, movements and revolutions as a global women’s movement.
This year PitchWise will open a space for the presentation of all the waves of feminism around the world and will focus on how women created resistance to all patriarchal, hetero-normative systems, how women worldwide have created movements and dealt with the issue of misogyny in their various spheres of action, and how they succeeded to make changes in a society that does not recognize women as equal members of the society.
One of the examples for future action is definitely offered by the fourth wave of feminism that continues the feminist struggle, but in a new way. The fourth wave is the embodiment of the feminist phrase “personal is political”, which shows all the ways inequality affects women, suggesting that these problems are not individual but common. This wave is defined primarily by technological tools that allow women to build powerful, popular and recreational Internet movement protests, marches, conferences and feminist campaigns.
It can be said that this is modern feminism defined by pragmatism, inclusion and humor. The slogan of the fourth wave of feminism is “Misogyny, watch out!” because feminists of the fourth wave are very harsh when they are not treated equally. ”
